Welcome to the website of Graduate educations of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), here you can find relevant information about the 154 graduate programs that we offer in engineering and physical-mathematical sciences, biological and medical sciences, social and administrative sciences as well as interdisciplinary sciences. In 2022, we have 6100 students that are attended by 2100 researchers and staff, distributed in 27 undergraduate schools and 20 research centers, located around of the Mexican Republic. It is important to note that students can apply for scholarships and economic support for graduate students, offered by the IPN, CONACYT, just to mention some. Additionally, as part of the partnership with society and the industry, our researchers, and students, could participate in projects or special services whit those partners. Foreign students

We understand how difficult it may be to leave your home country to study abroad; if this is your first time in Mexico, you will undoubtedly want information on immigration procedures; our objective is to help you through this process and to expedite the administrative processes required for you to complete your graduate studies at the IPN.

Procedures

Temporary resident student visa

Students of a nationality other than Mexican must provide the Mexican consulate or embassy with a letter of acceptance to a graduate program of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN).

To obtain the letter of acceptance to a graduate program of the IPN, the student must contact the academic coordinator of the program, providing the following information:

Copy of your passport Location of the Mexican embassy that corresponds to the student's current address. Mailing address of the address where you will receive the letter of support to obtain a visa. 4.Local contact telephone number A letter of acceptance will be sent by the program coordinator to the Head of Chancery of the relevant Mexican consulate or embassy, and if necessary, a copy will also be sent to CONACYT so that it may be forwarded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE).

To schedule an interview and submit an application for a student visa, the student must get in touch with the Mexican consulate or embassy in his or her nation. The student must follow the relevant procedures to enter Mexico if the visa is granted.

Documents Required for Travel and Entry to Mexico

We recommend arriving two weeks before the registration process begins. Upon arrival in Mexico, you must present your visa and passport to the authorities of the Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM). The INM will provide you with a multiple migratory forms (FMM) valid for 180 days, during this time you must apply for a residence permit to avoid sanctions and deportation.

Temporary Resident Permit and CURP

Once in Mexico, you need to go to the academic coordinator of your graduate program, who will guide you through the process of obtaining the CURP (Clave Única de Registro de Población) and the temporary resident permit.

Registration Process

You must go to the school control area of the academic unit. Remember that the academic coordinator of your graduate program can assist you in this process.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarships for foreigners granted by Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (Conacyt)

For foreign students enrolled in conventional face-to-face graduate programs, registered in the Sistema Nacional de Posgrados, and who formally express their commitment to be full-time students within the graduate program (PP) and maintain the academic quality or performance according to the criteria established in the Scholarship Allocation Agreement and the Conacyt Scholarship Regulations.

Requirements to apply for a scholarship • Be enrolled full time in a graduate program with face-to-face modality registered in the Sistema Nacional de Posgrados de Conacyt. • Register or have updated your Curriculum Vitae Único (CVU). • Complete and submit the scholarship application on CONACYT's MIIC Scholarship System platform. • If you obtained a previous scholarship or support, you must have your Letter of Recognition, before the registration of the application for support. • CURP

IPN Scholarship

It is economic support granted to students of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional who are studying Scholarship This is the economic support granted to students enrolled in a posgraduate program not registered in the Sistema Nacional de Posgrados del CONACYT. Amount • Master $9,000.00 mxn • PhD $13,000.00 mxn

Transition Shcolarship This is the economic support for new students who have to change their residence to the host city of the program, travel a distance of more than 300 kilometers from their city of origin, enrolled in master's or doctoral graduate programs, in the school-based modality that requires economic support for having to change their residence to the host city of the program.

Amount • One-time payment ($25,000.00 mxn)
