Objective

The Biochemical Engineering academic program aims to train competent professionals in the fields of bioprocesses, food bioengineering, environmental bioengineering, and metabolic engineering, with ethical values, leadership, and responsibility to the environment, which allow them to respond to the needs of society and sustainable development of the nation.

Candidate's Profile

Applicants to study Biochemical Engineering at the ENCB must be individuals with ethical values, responsible for the social, environmental, and economic environment; capable of adapting to a changing environment, able to work in multicultural teams as well as coordinate work groups and with a commitment to the sustainable development of Mexico.

The graduate of the Biochemical Engineering academic program is a professional with solid training in the fields of bioprocesses, food bioengineering, environmental bioengineering, and metabolic engineering; with ethical values, leadership, and responsibility to the environment, which allow him/her to respond to the needs of society and the sustainable development of the nation.

The Biochemical Engineer of the ENCB is a professional with solid scientific training, critical capacity, commitment, ethical values, leadership, and social and environmental responsibility.

  • Designs sustainable bio-processes involving the synthesis, transformation and processing of biological products.
  • Develops innovative processes in the production of biofuels.
  • Controls and optimizes production processes in the alcoholic beverage and food industry.
  • Innovates in the production of functional and non-conventional foods.
  • Design and control of bio-processes for wastewater treatment and advanced processes.
  • Applies molecular genetic tools and computational methods in the production of cells, metabolites and enzymes.
  • Validates equipment, processes and products that comply with good manufacturing practices in the industry.
  • Manages multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and multicultural teams in a collaborative manner.
  • Manages human, material and financial resources in decision-making.

Work Field

The Biochemical Engineer will develop in the public, private, industrial, and service sectors; his action will be located in the areas of food, bioprocesses, biotechnology, alcoholic beverages, environmental bioindustry, engineering and reengineering consulting firms for the development or implementation of new technologies and sustainable energy. He/she can collaborate in scientific and technological research teams, as well as develop or support the described sectors, through the organization, management, and administration of companies.
