Program / Engineer Architect

Objective

To train comprehensive, critical, and ethical professionals, under a scientific and participatory process that allows them to understand the theoretical foundations of architecture, engineering, and urban planning, as well as their practical application. With full knowledge of their environment and high social sense, to plan, design, build, maintain and regenerate architectural and/or urban spaces, under the principles of habitability and sustainable development.

Candidate's Profile

Students entering the Instituto Politécnico Nacional, in any of its programs and levels, must have the knowledge and basic skills that guarantee an adequate performance in the level to which they apply for admission. Likewise, they must have the necessary attitudes and values to take responsibility for their formative process and assume an active position in the study and development of the required projects and work, coinciding with the ideology and principles of the IPN.

KNOWLEDGE

They must have the basic knowledge of the upper secondary level with special emphasis on Mathematics, Geometry, Physics, History, Geography, Architectural Technical Drawing, Research Methodology, and Study Techniques.

SKILLS

Of the skills acquired at the high school level, those required with greater emphasis are reading comprehension, writing, drawing, handling of geometry instruments, mathematical reasoning, and handling of computer programs (Office, Internet, and computer-aided drawing). Likewise, as thinking skills acquired throughout their previous studies, the following are required mainly: observation, analysis, synthesis, concept formation, divergent thinking, problem-solving, abstract thinking (imagination), and creativity.

ATTITUDES AND VALUES

Graduate's profile

IPN graduates will have a solid comprehensive education, with general scientific and technological knowledge, so they will be able to perform in different fields and adequately combine theory and practice in their professional fields. They will have acquired the necessary skills to develop a life and career plan, develop in inter and multidisciplinary work environments, work in teams and develop leadership attitudes. All graduates will have received an education based on ethical values and responsibility, which will make them aware and open to change, capable of being permanently updated, and of responding to the needs of society and sustainable development. society's needs and the sustainable development of the nation.

Academic Requirements

The requirements to become a student at the Institute are:

  1. To comply with the academic background and other requirements indicated in the respective call for applications.
  2. To take the admission exam for the higher level.
  3. To be selected for admission.

Work Field

At present, the Architectural Engineer works in areas of the following sectors:

PUBLIC SECTOR

In this sector, he/she will work in governmental agencies and/or entities at local, municipal, regional, state, and federal levels. Both in public works and urban development. At present, the areas with the highest demand are Health, Housing, Tourism, Education, Culture, and Urban Planning.

PRIVATE SECTOR

In the private sector, they can work in architectural or urban planning firms and in construction companies.

FREE PRACTICE OF THE PROFESSION

In this field, the professional who graduated from this study plan may render his professional services or through the creation of his own company in the disciplines of architecture, urban planning, engineering, and technological development, from the integral architectural project to the management and construction of the same.
