Applicants interested in pursuing the Industrial Engineering Academic Program must have the knowledge, skills, and aptitudes necessary to pursue studies at a higher level. Completed high school level (certificate of studies), -high school, technical career, or any other level- at 100%. In addition to basic knowledge in mathematics, physics, chemistry, research methodology, verbal communication skills, written, reading, conventional handling of a second language, willingness to work collaboratively, innovative attitude, responsible citizenship behavior and motivational interest in the career.
The graduate of the Industrial Engineering program at UPIICSA and UPIIG Campus Guanajuato is a professional of integrity, leader, innovator, analytical, entrepreneur, with applied knowledge of engineering science, social, administrative, and technological sciences. He/she develops in all areas and in any social and service productive sector; in different areas and hierarchical levels of public, private and service organizations, collaborating in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary groups, with the ability to direct, research, design, innovate, plan, develop, implement, manage, formulate and evaluate innovative proposals, make decisions about products, services, systems, projects and business models, optimize resources and integrate new intelligent technologies, or adapt existing ones to solve complex problems, ensure quality, productivity, profitability, feasibility, sustainability, competitiveness, and strengthen the technological and economic development of the country, in dynamic interaction at a global level.

Industrial Engineering graduates have a broad and systemic labor field for their professional development, as described below: He/she can develop globally at the operational, tactical and strategic levels, or independently as an entrepreneur, manager, consultant, teacher and researcher in different areas and economic sectors of public and private organizations. He participates in the efficient use of human, material, technological and economic resources of any company, favoring the economic, productive, commercial and service growth of the country, by creating sources of employment, decreasing inflation, and improving the standard of living of the nation.
They are in demand to work in public, private and service companies, national or international, and participate in industrial engineering decision making at operational, middle management and senior management levels, with leadership, social responsibility, integrity and resilience.
Among other functions, the following stand out: research and development, intelligent manufacturing, continuous flow manufacturing, product development cycle, planning and scheduling technologies, rapid prototyping, intelligent manufacturing, quality control, production, marketing, occupational safety, human resources, legislation, accounting-finance, logistics, information technology and environmental management. Participates in the integration, management, innovation and optimization, from the design to the development of products, processes, services and business, in any operational and strategic area of an organization, through the application of mathematical models, scientific and technological techniques and methods of engineering, economics, social and administrative sciences, taking care of sustainability and the environment. Design and perform experiments or tests to products, production processes and logistics and interpret the results of these with a systemic vision.
