Program / Railway Engineering
Objective
To contribute to the development of the country through the training of engineers specialized in the diagnosis, dimensioning, design, implementation, management, operation, maintenance, and evaluation of railway transportation systems for the sustainable, safe, efficient, and quality transportation of people and goods, with a high sense of ethics, personal and social responsibility, with a critical attitude and commitment to their country.
Candidate's Profile
Students who aspire to study Railway Engineering at the Instituto Politécnico Nacional must meet the following admission profile:
- To come from a High School.
- It is desirable that they come from a High School that contains in its study plans, an important dose of basic subjects such as physics, chemistry and mathematics, computer science, drawing, technical English, philosophy, humanities, and oral and written communication, among others.
- Willingness to work full time to study Railway Engineering.
Graduate's profile
The Railway Engineer is a professional who graduated from higher education, from the Instituto Politécnico Nacional, with interdisciplinary training, capabilities, competencies, and aptitudes to:
- Diagnose construction needs and rail transportation services.
- Evaluate the environmental, urban, road, and roadway impacts of new projects and current operations.
- Make technical opinions and expert opinions related to projects, functions, and activities of railway companies.
- Diagnose the behavior of the industry that supplies railway technology, components, parts, and spare parts.
- Coordinate the construction and installation of infrastructure, superstructure, and electromechanical installations of railway projects.
Academic Requirements
The requirements to become a student at the Institute are:
- To comply with the academic background and other requirements indicated in the respective call for applications.
- To take the admission exam for the higher level.
- To be selected for admission.
Work Field
Railway engineers work in public or private companies oriented to the railway industry, government areas, or private companies.
