Applicants to enter Metallurgical Engineering should possess an Interest in Metallurgy and its applications, self-discipline in meeting objectives, ability to understand and apply the scientific method, awareness, and concern about the preservation of the environment, vision and inventive ability, and ability to work in interdisciplinary groups, gender equity.
The applicant must possess competencies in the disciplinary fields mentioned below.
Construct and apply mathematical models with different representations and approaches to solve problems in their environment, in the field of real numbers, using logical, critical, and creative thinking that promotes decision-making.
Apply principles and laws of experimental sciences to solve problems in different contexts with a critical and reflective attitude and a sustainable vision.
Argues their decisions, with critical and creative thinking, aware of their potential to transform and be responsible to their environment, to face different situations and problems in different areas of life.
Communicates messages through the use of various media, verbally, nonverbally, and graphically, in different social and cultural contexts, logically and critically to solve problems in their environment.
Analyzes the social, economic, political, and cultural processes of Mexico and the world, to transform their reality into a participatory, critical, and sustainable vision.
The graduate profile of the Metallurgical Engineering Academic Program is characterized by developing professional competencies focused on the productive process of Extractive Metallurgy in obtaining metals and alloys, design and operation of mineral processing plants or recycling metals, and the productive process of Adaptive Metallurgy in obtaining finished metal products through the processes of forming, machining, heat treatment, coating, and welding; in both production processes to generate sustainable goods and services, preserving the diversity of industrial and natural ecosystems, under national and international standards and norms.
