To comprehensively train optometry professionals who contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of the population, promoting and preserving visual and ocular health, through a competency-based model, focused on learning, flexibility and innovation, allowing inter and intra-institutional mobility, favoring the transition between levels and educational modalities.
The IPN graduate in Optometry is competent in the solution of visual and ocular problems and requirements of the population through evaluation, planning, research, prevention, and intervention, applying optometric knowledge and procedures in a transdisciplinary manner in the areas recommended by national and international organizations; with a sense of ethics and social commitment, manifesting a proactive attitude towards globalizing trends of today.
They will be health professionals who promote, examine, diagnose and implement treatment plans for the attention of alterations of the visual system, eye, and associated structures, as well as detect and monitor systemic diseases of national interest in an inter and multidisciplinary manner and develop research, management, and marketing functions that respond to the demands of society and the productive sector.
