Program / Aeronautical Engineering
Objective
To train engineers with the fundamental knowledge in the various disciplines of Aeronautical Engineering that will enable them to perform efficiently in the fields of research, design, construction, installation, operation, maintenance, and administration of aircraft systems, as well as the operation of the support infrastructure of companies and institutions in the air transportation sector, with the ability to manage the human, technological and financial resources available in their field of action for technological, economic and social development.
Candidate's Profile
Applicants to study one of the engineering careers offered at ESIME Ticomán and UPIIG Campus Guanajuato must have the following basic knowledge, abilities, attitudes, and values:
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences background.
- Reading fluency and comprehension, as well as the ability to express themselves through everyday and scientific languages, both orally and in writing.
- Logical reasoning skills: analysis, synthesis, and application of knowledge.
- Use of scientific methodology.
- Understanding, handling, and application of information formulated in different languages: graphic, symbolic and computational; as well as reading comprehension of English.
- Manual skills for laboratory work with specialized instruments.
- Willingness for self-learning that favors their intellectual, emotional, and social development.
- Creativity to solve new situations, achieve improvements and solve problems.
- Willingness to work in teams.
- Responsibility, respect, honesty, tolerance, and social solidarity.
- Willingness to learn about national problems and participate in their solution.
Graduate's profile
At the end of his career, the graduate will be able to base and apply the scientific and technological knowledge, as well as the skills, attitudes, and values necessary for the exercise of his profession for the benefit of society and the development of the nation in terms of:
- Design, construction, and maintenance of devices, equipment, and machines of the branch of engineering studied.
- Projection, design, and start-up of plants and systems that integrate equipment of the branch of engineering.
- Research, adaptation, and construction of new technologies and knowledge.
- Planning, organization, consulting, and management of service, manufacturing, and maintenance companies in the area of their competence.
- Application of national, international, and institutional, technical, legal, ethical, ecological, hygiene and safety standards inherent to their professional activity.
- Qualification, instruction, and training in the branches of its competence, to diverse personnel.
- Understanding, application, and development of the basic scientific, technical and socioeconomic principles of engineering.
*Management of the principles and applications of other disciplines related to the engineering of their specialty.
- Obtaining oral and written information processing and communication for projects and research.
- Communication in English, with their peers, orally and in writing.
- Application of analytical, logical, creative, and innovative thinking for analysis and problem solving, and decision-making.
- Use of the processes, methods, instruments, and tools of the engineering of their specialty.
- Methodical and efficient work both individually and in groups.
A critical, responsible, honest, participative, tolerant, enterprising, and supportive attitude towards the social, economic, cultural, political, and ecological reality.
- Establishment of interpersonal relationships with empathy and self-understanding to exercise organizational leadership.

The requirements to become a student at the Institute are:
- To comply with the academic background and other requirements indicated in the respective call for applications.
- To take the admission exam for the higher level.
- To be selected for admission.
Work Field
Many of our Aeronautical Engineers work in companies such as: Aeroméxico, PEMEX, Comisión Federal de Electricidad, Instituto de Investigaciones Eléctricas and many other companies in the service and production sector; they also work in companies such as General Motors, General Electric, and many other national and international institutions of education, research and technological development.
