The Mexico Senior National Team secured a hard-fought victory in a closely contested matchup that featured players from IPN.
Last Saturday at 3:00 p.m., an international American football game between the national teams of Mexico and Canada was held at Wilfrido Massieu Stadium of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN). The game was sanctioned by the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol Americano (FMFA) and represented a historic event due to its impact on the development of the sport in the country.
The matchup marked the return of Mexico’s Senior National Team to international competition after several years of absence, as they faced one of the most established programs in global American football—Canada—at an iconic venue in Mexican sports.
The game was defined by its intensity and high level of competition, with multiple lead changes throughout. After a tightly contested battle that remained undecided until the final moments of regulation time, both teams were tied 34–34, forcing the game into overtime.
In the extra time, the Mexican National Team sealed the victory with a final score of 41–34, defeating the Canadian squad in a result of major significance for American football in Mexico. The outcome reflected the team’s defensive strength, offensive efficiency, and collective commitment.
