Third Meeting of IPN Research and Graduate Networks Inaugurated at UPIITA
The Third Meeting of IPN Research and Graduate Networks kicked off with the launch of “ColaboraSIP: Digital Platform for Connection and Collaboration”, a tool designed to showcase scientific work and foster new research partnerships. The event also reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to strengthening intellectual property protection and ensuring that scientific knowledge translates into tangible results for society.
The opening ceremony took place at the Interdisciplinary Professional Unit in Engineering and Advanced Technologies (UPIITA), a symbol of technological innovation, and was led by Martha Leticia Vázquez González, IPN’s Secretary for Research and Graduate Studies.
Vázquez González stated that the ColaboraSIP Platform will enhance the work of IPN’s research networks, while allowing both the Polytechnic community and the public to learn about researchers, their projects, and the academic units where they operate.
During the launch, she presented a video highlighting that ColaboraSIP will serve as a digital space to explore IPN’s scientific talent—a contact point for researchers to collaborate, share knowledge, and track the maturity level of projects with social impact.
The platform will enable direct communication with researchers, promote collaboration, interdisciplinary work, and strengthen connections with companies and institutions.
ColaboraSIP will be hosted on IPN’s official website and already shows significant progress in compiling data from researchers across IPN’s three major areas of knowledge: Physical-Mathematical Sciences, Medical-Biological Sciences, and Social and Administrative Sciences, as well as Interdisciplinary Sciences.
Vázquez González emphasized the importance of building stronger bridges between research, innovation, and society.
“This meeting will strengthen scientific and academic collaboration among IPN’s networks, advancing shared solutions to the challenges our country faces. Environmental, energy, health, and territorial development issues cannot be addressed from a single discipline or institution,” she noted.
Rigor Upholds IPN’s Prestige: Yessica Gasca
Yessica Gasca Castillo, IPN’s Secretary for Innovation and Social Integration, underscored that the Research Networks are one of the strongest expressions of the Polytechnic’s collaborative spirit. She noted that more than 1,000 researchers participate across 12 institutional networks, developing projects aligned with institutional programs and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
She highlighted that these networks address crucial topics such as health, energy, environment, water, education, digital transformation, sustainable mobility, and food security. Gasca Castillo also offered the support of the Enterprise and Technology Transfer Services Directorate, the Technology-Based Business Incubation Directorate, and the Technology Foresight and Intelligence Directorate to assist researchers in advancing their projects.
She reported that, as of October 2025, IPN has obtained 1,931 intellectual and industrial property titles, including patents, utility models, industrial designs, and copyrights.
“This figure is more than just a number—it’s evidence of the ingenuity, creativity, and commitment of our scientific community,” she stressed. Addressing IPN scientists, she added:
“Your rigor, commitment, and creativity are the foundation of the IPN’s prestige. Thanks to your work, the Institute not only generates knowledge but also delivers concrete solutions with social, economic, and academic impact.”
During the event, the “ColaboraSIP Recognition” was awarded to the first institutions joining IPN’s new platform: the Hidalgo Council for Science, Technology, and Innovation, the General Coordination for Scientific and Humanistic Research of Puebla, and the Directorate of Higher Education of the State of Mexico.
