The Director General of the IPN, Arturo Reyes Sandoval, highlighted Canal Once’s commitment to education, accuracy, and quality.

Canal Once received the Quality Management System Certification under the international ISO 9001:2015 standard, making it the first and only public television network in Mexico—and one of the few worldwide—to hold this certification, which validates the quality of each of its processes. The recertification ceremony took place at Canal Once facilities, as the network first earned this distinction 24 years ago.

During the certificate presentation, Arturo Reyes Sandoval, Director General of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), accompanied by Renata Turrent Hegewisch, Director of Canal Once, underscored the broadcaster’s strong commitment to education, accuracy, knowledge, and quality across all its activities.

He recalled that 24 years ago, the channel was a pioneer in obtaining a Quality Management System certification under the ISO 9001:2000 standard, and noted that this recertification ensures the institution remains prepared to face an era of constant challenges.

“Canal Once took action by modifying and updating its processes and procedures, redefining indicators and internal controls, and updating its Quality Management Manual, among other measures. As a result, today—within the framework of the 90th anniversary of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional—we proudly celebrate that our channel, the first educational and cultural television network in Mexico and a UNESCO-recognized benchmark, has once again obtained the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certification,” Reyes Sandoval emphasized.

The IPN Director General congratulated and recognized the work of the entire Canal Once team, led by Renata Turrent, and encouraged them to continue serving as a model of credibility and a benchmark for Spanish-language audiovisual production. He also reiterated the importance of maintaining a focus on sustainability, identity, and social responsibility.

“In 2026, we can say that Canal Once continues to lead the way, as it is currently the only television network certified not just in a single process, but in every one of its processes. This is unique in Mexico and, we could say, practically unique at the international level as well, which continues to fill us with pride,” Reyes Sandoval stressed.

Renata Turrent, in turn, explained that an unprecedented effort was made during the six-month recertification process.

“None of this would have been possible without the commitment and dedication of everyone here at Canal Once. I would also like to thank the Instituto Politécnico Nacional for its constant support, under the leadership of Dr. Reyes. Doctor, thank you very much—it is always wonderful to work with the Politécnico,” she added.

Speaking at the event, Viviana Fernández Camargo, Director General of the Mexican Institute for Standardization and Conformity Assessment (IMEEC), stated that this recognition goes beyond a regulatory requirement, representing a genuine commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and excellence in management.

“This certificate is, above all, a demonstration of commitment from top management that promotes leadership among its collaborators, ensures continuous process improvement, and reinforces responsibility toward customers and stakeholders by delivering reliable, high-quality services,” she concluded.
