The Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) has announced the recipients of the “Lázaro Cárdenas” Prize 2024, the highest honor bestowed by the institution to outstanding members of its community. The awards recognize excellence across various categories, including High School, Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral levels, as well as Graduates and other individuals, Professors, Researchers, and a former General Director.
During the Seventh Ordinary Session of the XLII General Consultative Council (CGC), the Secretary General of the Politécnico announced that Raúl Talán Ramírez, who served as General Director of the IPN from 1985-1988, will be honored in the former General Director category.
In the Professors and Researchers category, Dr. Edilso Francisco Reguera Ruiz, a scientist from the Centro de Investigación en Ciencia Aplicada y Tecnología Avanzada (CICATA), Legaria Unit, was awarded. The Presea in the High School Students category was awarded to: Karla Christina Beltrán Ramírez from the Centro de Estudios Científicos y Tecnológicos (CECyT) 13 “Ricardo Flores Magón”; Jorge Yosue Coconi Aguilar from CECyT 2 “Miguel Bernard”; Guadalupe Monserrat Alderete Hernández from CECyT 17 “León, Guanajuato”, and María Fernanda Saavedra Espinosa from CECyT 15 “Diódoro Antúnez Echegaray”.
In the Undergraduate Students category, the awardees are Dulce Lily García Mejía from the Escuela Superior de Comercio y Administración (ESCA), Santo Tomás Unit; José Rodolfo Sabas Hernández from the Escuela Superior de Cómputo (Escom); Bruno Gutiérrez Chávez from the Unidad Profesional Interdisciplinaria de Biotecnología (Upibi), and Ángeles Paulina Cadena Quezada from the Escuela Superior de Enfermería y Obstetricia (ESEO).
For the Master’s Students category, the honorees are Estefanía Pérez Díaz from ESCA Santo Tomás; Fernando Javier Aguilar Canto from the Centro de Investigación en Computación (CIC); María Fernanda López Olivares from the Centro de Investigaciones Económicas, Administrativas y Sociales (CIECAS), and Alejandro Londoño Moreno from the Escuela Nacional de Ciencias Biológicas (ENCB).
In the Doctoral Students category, the awardees are Luis Enrique García Pérez from the Escuela Superior de Economía (ESE); Balouchzani Faziourrahman from CIC; Hebert Rodrigo Mojica Molina from CICATA Legaria, and Amanda Marineth Ávila Trejo from ENCB.
In the Graduates and other individuals category, the recipients are Miguel Ángel Maciel Torres from the Escuela Superior de Ingeniería y Arquitectura (ESIA), Ticomán Unit, and Salomón Jara Cruz from the Escuela Superior de Ingeniería Química e Industrias Extractivas (ESIQIE)
Additionally, during the session, it was announced that the “Carlos Vallejo Márquez” Presea will be awarded for 50 years of service to 68 teachers and one member of the Support and Assistance to Education Staff (PAAE). For 30 years of service, 122 teachers and 133 PAAE will receive the “Juan de Dios Bátiz” Presea. Furthermore, 192 administrative staff members will receive the Diploma of Efficiency and Effectiveness . Lastly, it was announced that Gerardo Zúñiga Bermúdez, a teacher from ENCB, will receive the Research Diploma, and Sandra Benavides Chávez from CECyT 14 “Luis Enrique Erro” will receive the Culture Diploma.
