IPN Becomes First Public Institution in Mexico to Certify Russian Language Proficiency

CENLEX Zacatenco successfully conducted the first Russian language certification exam, endorsed by the Latin American Russian Association (ALAR), establishing itself as a certified testing center aligned with international standards.

The Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) has become the first public institution in Mexico to offer official Russian language certification, following the successful accreditation of its Foreign Language Center, CENLEX Zacatenco, by ALAR.

At the end of June, ALAR representatives visited CENLEX Zacatenco to assess the center’s academic and infrastructural standards. Upon verification, the center was formally authorized as an official “Testing Site.”

As a result, on July 2 and 3, 2025, CENLEX Zacatenco held its first official Russian language certification exam in collaboration with ALAR, marking a milestone in its efforts to expand language education and assessment services by international benchmarks.

The certification aims to objectively and consistently assess students' Russian language proficiency, following the levels established by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

This academic milestone not only provides participants with formal certification recognized by the institution but also strengthens the overall quality of Russian language instruction and promotes continuous improvement.

The exam was administered with the participation of guest specialist Natalia Smirnova, who traveled from Russia for the occasion, and CENLEX faculty members Olga Voronina and Ksenia Migutina, who served as certified examiners.

Through initiatives like this, the Directorate for Foreign Language Education, via CENLEX Zacatenco, reaffirms its commitment to academic excellence and its position as a leading language certification center, aligning with global standards.ándares internacionales.
