To face an era marked by major transformations in the refining and petrochemical industry, the Escuela Superior de Ingeniería Química e Industrias Extractivas (ESIQIE) reiterates its commitment to training quality professionals who will be able to integrate into the national energy sector.
At the inauguration of the XXVII Petroleum Chemical Engineering Meeting, the director of the school, Guadalupe Silva Oliver, indicated that the training of suitable human capital is fundamental for success in any stage of the value chain, both in public and private companies.
In the context of this meeting -organized by the Department of Petroleum Chemical Engineering of the ESIQIE, with the slogan "Challenges and perspectives of the national refining and petrochemical industry"-, Silva Oliver said that the ESIQIE has become a seedbed of professionals trained with a high academic level and a perspective of social responsibility.
"Professionals in this branch must be increasingly efficient and effective in the corresponding energy management of any of the stages of the value chain of the chemical industry, which is why it is so relevant to hold this type of event, in which specialists in the field offer their experiences and perspectives," she stressed.
During the closing ceremony, the representative of the Organizing Committee, Miroslava Romero Martínez, emphasized that this meeting analyzed the most pressing challenges of the hydrocarbons sector, which is fundamental to ensure an efficient, safe, and sustainable supply of oil and gas, vital energy resources for the proper functioning of the national economy.
As petroleum chemical engineers, the student added, they must be committed to development and innovation in the industry, hence the importance of having the participation of experts and graduates, who contributed experiences, success stories, and innovative solutions that transform the way of processing and using natural resources today.
Also, as part of this meeting, ESIQIE opened its doors so that 32 students from the Centro de Estudios Científicos y Tecnológicos (CECyT) 2 "Miguel Bernard" could get to know the facilities of the career. The guests toured the classrooms, library, as well as light and heavy laboratories, where the students of the specialty receive their academic training.
In this way, the young people who are in the sixth semester of the Metallurgy Technician course learned about some of the processes involved in the production of fuels used daily in industry and homes, such as gasoline, diesel, and fuel oil.
In this context, the professors of the Petroleum Chemical Engineering Department, organizers of the event, highlighted the importance of this sector for the economy of any country because fuels will always be essential for the daily work of people and industries of society.
During the week of the meeting, various activities and round table discussions were held with specialists in the field, among which the following were highlighted: Risk Analysis in Refining Processes; Perspectives of the Dos Bocas Refinery; Catalysis of Petrochemicals; The Economics of Hydrocarbons and Safety in the Refining and Petrochemical Industry, among others.
