The excellent education that graduates have received in the classrooms of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) has earned the trust of major companies in the automotive industry. These companies highlight the institution's leadership in this industry, as stated by the Director General, Arturo Reyes Sandoval, during the inauguration of Expo ISISA 2023 at the Escuela Superior de Ingeniería Mecánica y Eléctrica (ESIME) (ESIME), Ticomán Unit.
Accompanied by the Secretary General of the Institute, Carlos Ruiz Cárdenas; the Academic Secretary, Mauricio Igor Jasso Zaranda; the Director of ESIME Ticomán, Armando Oropeza Osorno; the Dean of this unit, Jorge Mosqueda Hernández; and Engineer Carlos Crespo y Mena, the Director General of the Politécnico officially inaugurated this event, which aims to connect and educate students of Automotive Systems Engineering.
Dr. Reyes Sandoval expressed his gratitude for the participation of representatives from various companies such as Ford, General Motors, Nissan, Bentley, Shaeffler, KYV, Roshfrans, among many others. He then toured the exhibition facilities accompanied by members of the IPN community.
Over the course of three days, students had the opportunity to attend lectures, participate in workshops, enjoy the car exhibition, and establish connections with companies to enhance their education and future performance in the labor market. As the Director General of the IPN pointed out, "the talent generated at ESIME Ticomán not only contributes to the automotive industry but also contributes to its positioning in the national and regional economy of Latin America."
The connections made through these events are crucial for students, such as Rodrigo Hernández Osorio, a sixth-semester student of Automotive Systems Engineering, who mentioned that the lectures at this Expo ISISA are closely related to what they learn in the classrooms and serve to further ignite their interest in the field.
The event also served to recognize the extensive career and dedication of Engineer Carlos Crespo y Mena, who has been leading the classrooms for 46 years. "It may sound easy, but it's 46 years of teaching by example, motivating students, and showing them how to conduct themselves in life. We shouldn't focus solely on technological education, which no one does better than IPN, but other aspects complement that education, as Engineer Crespo has demonstrated," stated the Director General of the IPN.
On behalf of the Polytechnic community, Dr. Reyes Sandoval expressed his gratitude for his diligent teaching work and unveiled a plaque naming the Aerospace Modeling Laboratory-Workshop after Engineer Crespo y Mena, who has been leading it for nearly five decades.
