En As part of the celebrations commemorating the 90th anniversary of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), and in recognition of its contributions since 1936 as a pillar of Mexico’s scientific, technological, and social development, the National Lottery held the Superior Draw No. 2868.

Led by Olivia Salomón, Director General of the National Lottery, and Arturo Reyes Sandoval, Director General of the IPN, the draw highlighted the work of an educational institution that for nine decades has trained generations of professionals committed to innovation, knowledge, and the progress of Mexico.

Before a large audience at the theater where the Traditional Draws are held—where the iconic “¡Huélum!” chant of the student community resonated repeatedly—both officials underscored the importance of the IPN in the country’s modern history. They recalled that its classrooms have produced generations of professionals distinguished by their dedication and commitment.

The IPN was founded on January 1, 1936, by decree issued during the administration of General Lázaro Cárdenas del Río. Today, the Institute has 93 academic units distributed across 24 states and Mexico City.

IPN Director General Arturo Reyes Sandoval expressed his appreciation for the distinction granted by the National Lottery and emphasized that Superior Draw No. 2868 officially marks the beginning of the celebrations for the IPN’s 90th anniversary—an occasion of deep significance for the polytechnic, educational, and scientific communities nationwide.

He added that honoring the IPN through an institution such as the National Lottery aligns with the policies of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and Secretary of Public Education Mario Delgado Carrillo.

“A National Lottery ticket is not merely a matter of chance; in its purest essence, it is a symbol of hope—the belief that tomorrow can be different. Ninety years ago, the IPN was founded under that same premise of hope, but with a tool other than chance: education,” Reyes Sandoval stated.

He noted that nine decades later, that ideal has evolved, and the IPN has become a benchmark not only in education, but also in innovation, scientific research, culture, and sports—spaces where young people can grow with values, solidarity, and a strong sense of social commitment. For this reason, he said, the Institute will continue educating and advancing cutting-edge science and technology for well-being and social justice.

For her part, Olivia Salomón remarked that ninety years represent far more than a number—they embody decades of effort, study, vocation, and commitment to Mexico. She highlighted that with 255 years of history, the National Lottery has supported social causes, given visibility to fundamental institutions, and commemorated milestones that have decisively contributed to the country’s development.

“That is why dedicating this Superior Draw to the 90th anniversary of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional is not a symbolic gesture, but a fully coherent decision aligned with its social mission and its historic bond with the people of Mexico,” she said.

Salomón added that each lottery ticket in this draw also served as a tribute to generations of IPN women and men who have placed their knowledge, vocation, and effort at the service of the nation. She emphasized that under the leadership of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, Mexico is experiencing a stage in which education, science, and technology are once again central to the national project.

“The ticket traveled throughout the country, reaching households from north to south, carrying a message of memory and future: that Mexico recognizes its institutions, honors its history, and commits to public education as one of the strongest paths toward transformation,” the National Lottery Director General concluded.
