With more than 30,000 runners, the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), Canal Once, and Fundación Politécnico A.C. held the 17th edition of the IPN Once K 2025 race under the motto “Sustainability is Our Goal”. The event took place both in person and virtually, with participation at more than 20 IPN campuses across 24 Mexican states and in other countries through the engagement of students and alumni abroad.
At 6:40 a.m., the 21-kilometer half marathon began before the “Wilfrido Massieu” Stadium. The 11-kilometer race kicked off from the Casco de Santo Tomás, followed by the 5-kilometer run departing from Zacatenco. All starting points were energized with school chants and the traditional Huélum.
The authorities of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), headed by the General Secretary, Mauricio Igor Jasso Zaranda, informed that more than 33,000 competitors participated at the national level in the sites where the Institute has a presence in the national territory, that is, 8 thousand more than last year.
"We are not just running toward a finish line—we are taking a giant step for our planet, for the trees, the animals, the air we breathe. Every step you take today proves how strong and capable you are of overcoming any challenge," said Jasso, highlighting the environmental focus of this year’s race.
