A total of 169 students participated in the preliminary selection process for the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) Representative Swimming Team.

The formation of IPN’s swimming team is nearing completion, driven by strong interest from members of the student community eager to join this flagship athletic program.

On Thursday, February 19, 169 candidates registered and completed performance trials in response to the official call for applicants. Of the participants, 115 competed in the men’s division and 54 in the women’s division, reflecting the Polytechnic community’s strong athletic spirit and commitment to the sport.

The evaluation process followed a comprehensive strategy that went beyond timing metrics to assess technical execution and overall performance. Three key variables were measured during the preliminary round: block performance and water entry, turn execution and streamlined underwater distance exceeding seven meters, and performance in each swimmer’s strongest event.

This selection model enabled evaluators to identify swimmers with solid technical foundations and high competitive potential, prioritizing efficiency and quality of execution.

Final Assessment

Swimmers who advanced from the February 19 trials will report on Thursday, February 26, for strength assessments. This stage will allow coaches to finalize the roster of athletes who will integrate the Representative Team.

Through these actions, the Instituto Politécnico Nacional continues to strengthen its athletic program and reaffirms its commitment to the holistic development and competitive growth of its student-athletes.
