IPN develops joint projects with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology

For the second consecutive year, the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) participates as a mexican institution in the Seed Fund Program 2021-2022 of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which seeks to promote joint projects aimed at solving common challenges, in collaboration and direct contact with leaders in research and innovation of international stature.

In various forums, the Secretary of Public Education, Delfina Gomez Alvarez, has pointed out that educational institutions have a crucial impact on the development of social projects for the country´s benefit.

In turn, the IPN´s General Director, Arturo Reyes Sandoval, has expressed that, with their effort, dedication and innovation, young researchers will help transform Mexico and the lives of those who need it most.

The realization of innovation projects that will be carried out with MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) confirms the interest of the polytechnic community to contribute to comprehensive training, research, technological development and innovation; in addition to the relevance of working in close relationship with institutions of high international recognition.

MIT is a leading institution in the QS International Ranking and ranks in the top five in the world's top university rankings in the areas of Engineering and Technology, Architecture, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences and Management.

Current projects include Carbon Capture Assessment for Naturally Recovering Forests in the Sierra Go; Defining single-cell epigenetic landscapes in the plant female germline; Discovery of digital biomarkers in schizophrenia and CLUE Mexico City.

In this edition, whose deadline for the call is December 3, interested scientists must propose a joint project with their MIT peers aimed at addressing intellectual challenges that go beyond the borders of the countries represented in the collaboration and it is recommended to identify people who work in different ways within the same team.

The projects that will have priority are those with the possibility of achieving an important contribution to the field of study; that are new or enter a different phase; involving undergraduate and graduate students from both institutions; to propose a balanced exchange between MIT and IPN, and to demonstrate the complementarity of the work teams.

Through the Directorate of International Relations, the Polytechnic promotes the academic mobility of students, professors and researchers, and the development of collaborative projects for the creation or consolidation of networks, as in this first-level alliance with MIT, which strengthens the process of institutional internationalization.
